Description:
A wonderful oak chest with iron binding. These chest
where made to hold the family silver service in
Victorian English Manor homes so that the servants
could not easily steal it while families where on
holiday. There are three individual locks hidden
behind the hasp. They where requested by The Chubb
Insurance Company and are often called "Chubb
Chest."They are beatifully made, with dovetailed
construction. The interior often had lined shelves
to hold the silver but they are gone from this example.
These make great tables or blanket chest to fit
todays living.
