Description: A wonderful oak chest with iron binding. These chest where made to hold the family silver service in Victorian English Manor homes so that the servants could not easily steal it while families where on holiday. There are three individual locks hidden behind the hasp. They where requested by The Chubb Insurance Company and are often called "Chubb Chest."They are beatifully made, with dovetailed construction. The interior often had lined shelves to hold the silver but they are gone from this example. These make great tables or blanket chest to fit todays living.
